Kurnool: Civic chief DK Balaji says shops not permitted in red zones

Kurnool: The Commissioner of Kurnool Municipal Corporation, DK Balaji inspected lockdown 5.0 being implemented at Old Town area here on Saturday and walked the stretch of 2 km starting from Konda Reddy fort to other areas in Old Town. He noticed that several shops were opened and he immediately ordered them to down the shutters. The Old Town falls under containment zone. Shops like medical, grocery, vegetables, milk, eggs and meat shops are accorded permission. The remaining shops are not given permission to open at the containment zone.

DK Balaji said some reports are making rounds on social media that lockdown 5.0 is being implemented in entire Kurnool town which is false. The lockdown is imposed only at containment zones. He appealed the people not to believe in the news being circulated in social media. He further said the consumers should wear masks besides maintaining social distance and cleaning hands with sanitisers.

The commissioner further asked the officials concerned to take up steps for cleaning of drains at all sanitary divisions. Necessary precautionary measures are being taken to save people falling prey to season diseases and corona virus. He visited Beedi workers colony, Weaker Section colony at 11thdivision.

The residents of Beedi workers colony and Weaker Section colony gave complaints on several grievances. The residents urged the commissioner to solve their problems pending for several years.
