Kurnool: Conduct Covid tests to elderly people, Deputy CM Alla Nani directs officials

Kurnool: Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Health Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas (Alla Nani) has directed the district administration to take maximum care to protect health of elderly people. He also instructed the officials to conduct Covid-19 tests to senior citizens. Alla Nani, along with Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy, held a review meeting on the present status of Covid-19 in the district at APSP 2nd battalion guest house here on Friday.

On the occasion, the Minister instructed the officials to extend quality medical treatment to aged people. He said that in the last three months, the killer virus has claimed 48 people across the district and 70 percent of them were in the age group of 60 to 65 years.

As per Friday's state medical bulletin, 60 fresh positive cases were reported in the district, taking the total to 1,615. Of them, 694 are active cases and 873 were discharged so far. The minister assured people that there was no need to panic with the rising number of positive cases as the government has taken all precautionary measures. He however said the officials need to be very alert and cautious at this needy hour. Later the Ministers visited Nandyal where they inspected the site where construction of a new government medical college is planned. The college will be coming up at Nunepale village, on the outskirts of the town. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government is committed to provide quality education and health care to the people, he further said. The government is setting up 16 medical colleges in the state to improve health facilities. He said Kurnool medical college and hospital will be modernised with Rs. 720 crore under the Naadu Nedu programme.

District Collector G Veera Pandian, SP K Fakkeerappa, Joint Collector Pattanshetty Ravi Subhash, Kurnool Municipal Commissioner DK Balaji, Nandyal MP Pocha Bramananda Reddy, MLAs MA Hafeez Khan, Katasani Rambhupal Reddy, Katasani Rami Reddy, Silpa Ravichandra Kishore Reddy and others were present.
