Kurnool: The day-long disappearance of an SI in the district after leaving a message hinting at intention to end life in a WhatsApp group created a flutter on Sunday. The police official, however, returned by evening.

According to information, M Vishnu Narayana, SI of Rudravaram under Allagadda sub-division limits, went missing after leaving a message in police WhatsApp group on Sunday morning stating that he was going to unknown destination to end his life. He had also said that it was his last message. He reportedly left his residence in a car. On seeing the message in the group, police were shocked and immediately rushed to his residence to prevent any extreme step by the SI.

Sources said Vishnu Narayana reported to have received orders from higher-ups to report to police headquarter as he was found to be negligent in discharging his duties. Upset with the orders, he allegedly decided to end his life and posted a message on police WhatsApp group claiming that he was facing harassments from his senior officials. "Unable to bear their harassment, I am taking the decision," was his message.

On noticing the message, police went to his house and enquired with his family members. But the family members, who were unaware of the message, could not provide any details about his possible destination. The police immediately passed on the message to all police stations to find his whereabouts.

However, Allagadda DSP V Pothu Raju told The Hans India on Sunday evening that the SI had returned home safely in the evening. He said Vishnu Narayana was in a state of depression and which resulted in his brief disappearance. "We have to know what forced him to take such extreme step," the DSP said.
