Kurnool: Despite blanket ban, sale of single-use plastic on rise
Kurnool: The officials of Kurnool Municipal Corporation (KMC) have imposed complete ban on usage of single-use plastic. Despite the orders, some shop owners are secretly selling the plastic made articles by stacking in godowns.
On learning about the unauthorised stacking the officials of Municipal Corporation have conducted raids and seized huge quantities of plastic made articles. Health officer Bhaskar Reddy along with his staff conducted raids on the shops located at Minchin Bazar, Chowk center and Poola Bazar. During the raids conducted at Bongula Bazar, the officials have detected huge quantity of plastic articles stacked at Kishore Plastics shop. Around 1000 kg of plastic glasses, plates and others were seized and shifted to a locked room.
The health officer speaking to media persons on Tuesday, appealed the people to oppose the usage of plastic articles. To lead a healthy life, people should not use plastic articles. The shop owners have been instructed not to sell or use single use plastic. If anyone is found to be using or selling they would be imposed heavy penalty, he said.
