Kurnool: Devotees not to be allowed to take holy bath at Patala Ganga
Kurnool: In view of deadly coronavirus, the district officials of Kurnool have initiated measures to prevent its spreading. District Collector, G Veera Pandiyan directed the officials to set up integrated check posts at the borders of Kurnool district. The people entering into the district from Karnataka, Telangana and Maharashtra would be screened at the integrated border check posts.
On the occasion of five day-Udagi utsavams which are expected to start from March 22, devotees in large numbers from Karnataka, Maharashtra and Telangana besides AP would throng Srisailam temple. During these 5 days, devotees will first take holy bath at Krishna River waters and later take part in other programmes. But this time, the devotees will not be allowed to take holy bath in Krishna waters.
The temple EO, KS Rama Rao said that the devotees of Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana and AP are urged not to bring children below the age of 12 and persons above 60 years old for Ugadi celebrations. The devotees will be strictly prevented from entering into Patala Ganga for taking holy bath. Separate arrangements have been made by the temple authorities for taking bath, stated KS Rama Rao.
With the aim of preventing the spread of covid-19, the Peetadhipathi of Ahobhila Mutt also appealed to the devotees to not to visit the temple. Apart from Ahobhila Mutt, several other temples across the district have also suspended Seva programmes due to coronavirus.
