Kurnool goes on high security alert ahead of MPTC and ZPTC elections in AP
Ahead of local body elections in the state, the police department alerted and taking the measures to maintain law and order issues. The police are checking for the troublesome villages and Mandals from past experiences and taking measures accordingly.
A week before the notification of local bodies elections released, SP Fakkeerappa held a meeting with the district administration and discussed the election management. Circle-wise officials have been advised on what steps should be taken to prevent the untoward incidents while the sub-divisional officials have prepared lists of those who are headed by their respective political parties in the villages and who have been involved in clashes in the past election.
Special attention is said to be paid to the police subdivisions and assembly constituencies which are the most violent areas in the district. A list of trouble-makers and faction-affected villages has already been prepared especially in the constituencies of Allagadda, Nandyalal, Banaganapalle, Panyam, Done, Pattikonda and Mantralayam.
As many as five thousand police personnel have been set up for the security in the district. Out of the 2,401 polling stations, 781 polling stations were found to be the most problematic, while 709 polling stations were found to be critical. In addition to the 2,820 polling centres, 2,770 polling stations have been identified for panchayat elections where there are 302 most problematic polling centres. 42 check posts are being set up to curb illicit liquor and money distribution.
