Kurnool: MLA Katasani flags off special buses carrying migrants

Kurnool: As many as 84 migrant labourers of Bihar state were accorded permission by the district administration to go to their native places on Sunday. The migrants were employed at Jindal Cement Factory near Gadivemula in Panyam constituency. With the announcement of lockdown by the central government all the migrants were stranded at Gadivemula. On several occasions they had urged the officials to accord permission to go to their native places. But their requests were not considered due to rapid spread of corona virus.

However, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, on learning about the problems being faced by the migrants, has ordered the officials to make arrangements for their transportation. Following the orders of Chief Minister, the district administration has arranged special busses for the transportation of 84 migrant labourers. The busses will drop them at Nellore railway station from where they will board a train to Bihar. The busses were flagged off by the Panyam MLA, Katasani Rambhupal Reddy.

Addressing media persons, Katasani said that the migrant labourers were stranded at Jindal Cement Factory due to lockdown and were facing several problems. They were facing financial problems besides shelter, food and other problems. They wanted to return to their native places and have requested the District Collector to accord permission for their journey. Chief Minister, Jagan Mohan Reddy has granted permission that the migrants can go to their native places.

Special busses to carry 84 migrants have been arranged up to Nellore. The busses will return after dropping them at Nellore railway station from where they would board a train to Bihar, said the MLA. He further said that the migrants have expressed happiness and thanked the district administration.
