Kurnool police arrests man for circulating counterfeit currency notes in Guntakal
The Kurnool district police have arrested three people for making counterfeit notes and smuggling them. The details of the incident, which came to light two days late, are as follows. On the 25th of this month, the accused went to Jonnagiri of Maddikera mandal in Kurnool district to purchase chicken pakoda and gave a hundred rupee note. However, the shopkeeper noticed that it was a fake currency note and returned him.
At the same time, the constables of the Jonnegiri police station, who were there, were alerted and arrested Nurbasha after they found 30 counterfeit currency in his possession Nurbasha was taken into custody and shifted to Jonnegiri police station.
The accused admitted in the interrogation that he had learned the process of making notes by watching YouTube videos and had made counterfeit notes along with two others. He explained that the notes were exchanged at Guntakal Maddikera, Jonnegiri and other places. He said he took Rs 50,000 original notes and handed over Rs 1 lakh counterfeit notes and opined that he was circulating in the market.
Jonnegiri police reached Kasapura on Saturday night where the accused Nurbasha resides and seized a scanner for making banknotes, Xerox machines, and paper used for making banknotes. Meanwhile, Khaza, who had collaborated with Nurbasha, was arrested and remanded by Kurnool district court on Monday.
