Kurnool: Police rescue nine-day-old baby within hours of abduction
Kurnool: In a major breakthrough, the Kurnool cops have cracked an abduction case within hours of the incident on Saturday. A nine-day- old baby was safely rescued from the abductor and handed over to the parents.
At a press conference held here, SP, Fakkeerappa Kaginelli said that P Mariyamma, resident of Chinna Nelatur village in Gonegandla mandal has given birth to a girl baby at Kurnool Government General Hospital, 9 days ago. She was discharged on 29th of January. She along with baby, her sister and brother, came to the hospital on Saturday for family planning operation. At genecology ward, an unknown woman introduced her-self saying that her sister-in-law was admitted in the hospital for delivery, said the SP.
After a while, the doctors prescribed some lab tests to Mariyamma to get it done for undergoing family planning operation. Mariyamma's brother and sister accompanied her to the lab leaving the baby with the unknown woman. When Mariyamma's sister returned to take back the baby, the woman asked her to put the medicines in the bag. When the sister was putting the medicines in the bag, the unidentified woman left the place abducting the baby.
Mariayamma and her brother lodged a complaint at Three Town Police Station. Based on the complaint, five teams were formed to nab the woman. The incident was also circulated on social media and cops conducted vehicle checking. Finally, the abductor was traced by the Peauply police station, Sub Inspector, G Maruthi Shankar.
He immediately took the baby and the abductor into custody and later in the evening the baby was handed over to the parents. The abductor was identified as Chandra Kalavathi a cook at SC hostel in Peauply. The abduction case was cracked within hours and the SP announced reward to SI, GM Shankar.
