Kurnool: Residents of red zone areas resent strict lockdown rules

Kurnool: The residents of red zone areas in Kurnool town are expressing their resentment over the negligent attitude of the government officials. They are alleging that they are starving due to implementation of lockdown restrictions strictly and the district administration is not taking steps to address their woes. Almost all approach roads to the red zones are blocked and no one from the red zone is permitted to come out. The women of these areas are demanding the officials to remove the blockades and allow them move free to earn livelihood.

Fathima resident of Budwara Peta in the town alleged that the shop owners are not selling any commodity to them as they come from red zone. Some time ago the government has given Rs.1,000, some kgs of PDS rice and a kg Bengal gram. Do these items feed a family, she asked. She further asked what to do with the Bengal gram without oil and other essential commodities.

When we try to sell some vegetables to earn an income, the police personnel during rounds are throwing them on the roads, Fathima alleged.

Another resident, Razia demanded the government to remove barricades and let them free so that their men can work and earn an income to run the families. The officials are unable to understand the plight of common people and are taking decisions against the interests of people, she complained. If the government doesn't not allow the residents to go out, then let it give Rs.10,000 to each house hold, she added.

One more resident Noor Jahan finding fault with the reopening of wine shops, said that government should have permitted shops to sell essential commodities. She also alleged that the police are threatening them to file cases under lockdown violation.
