Kurnool: Scribes stage dharna for accreditation
Kurnool: The journalists demanding the government to suspend the GO No 142 on Monday staged a relay hunger strike at Dharna Chowk here on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, the journalists said that accreditation was the primary right of every working journalist.
But the ruling government was intentionally trying to suppress the voice of working journalists. They further said that with the implementation of GO No 142 there was every chance of closing small and medium periodicals. Braving the Covid pandemic situation, the journalists have educated the people and also helped the government to prevent further spread of disease.
The journalists took serious objection to linking giving accreditation to GST, numbers of papers printing and others. The journalists demanded the government to immediately suspend the GO No 142 and accord accreditation to every working journalist.
If the government did not withdraw the GO, they threatened to intensify the agitation. They also warned to lay siege Secretariat at Velagapudi.
Several leaders of political parties, community based, student and others have participated and expressed their solidarity to the hunger protest.
