Kurnool: Stray dogs maul 6-yr-old girl

Kurnool: A 6-year-old girl was injured when she was bitten by a pack of stray dogs at Sunder Singh Colony in Dhone on Wednesday. The residents, however, rescued the girl and rushed to hospital and her condition is stated to be stable.

The residents of the colony allege that the civic staff is least concerned to initiate steps to catch the stray dogs despite lodging several complaints. One Rathnam, a resident of Kothapeta in Dhone, said that children are being scared by the stray dogs. They are unable to go out lonely fearing of dogs' attack, said Rathnam.

During daytime, the dogs posing a threat to bikers and walkers and in nights, the hauls and barking of dogs are not letting to sleep peacefully. The quarrel of dogs lasts for 10-15 minutes and sometimes it may last long, said Rathnam.

Another resident said that the issue of stray dogs was taken to notice of civic department but none from the department are interested to resolve the issue.

The residents demand that the civic authorities to catch the stray dogs and leave them at an unknown place so that they can lead a peaceful life.

This is the third dog attack in a span of two weeks. Some days ago, a male child was mauled to death at Allagadda. On the same day, another boy was also seriously injured by the stray dogs.

District collector G Veera Pandiyan, in a circular, has ordered the commissioners of municipal corporations to take necessary precautionary measures.

He directed the officials concerned to sterilise the stray dogs in municipal limits and panchayat limits. He also said that the precautionary measures should be taken well in advance.
