Kurnool: Tension at village as rival groups clash over temple issue

Kurnool: Tense situation prevailed at Kallipara village in Kodumur constituency on Tuesday as people of two communities, SCs and BCs, attacked each other with sticks and pelted stones over a temple site. In the incident, several people of both communities sustained injuries. The injured were rushed to Kurnool Government General Hospital. The cops of Kodumur rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

Circle Inspector of Kodumur P Parathasaradhi Reddy stated that people of two communities were quarrelling over an issue of Karemma temple site . One Manohar of SC community opposed the renovation of Karemma temple when BC community people took up construction. There were heated arguments between the communities over the issue and then they attacked one another with sticks and pelted stones.

The police were informed about the incident. The police rushed to the village and took stock to control. The people were dispersed and the injured were shifted to Kurnool Government Hospital for treatment. Presently the situation is under control. As a precautionary measure, police picketing was set up to prevent any untoward incident.
