Kurnool: Women play an important role for the development of society said G Veera Pandiyan
Kurnool: District Collector, G Veera Pandiyan said that the existence of humans cannot be imagined without women and they play vital role in the society. He along with his wife Andal participated as chief guests at a programme organised on International Women's Day celebrations at Sunaina Audirotium at the collectorate here on Sunday.
Addressing on the occasion, the Collector said the women play more roles when compared to men in the society. We all should support the women for their self-development and growth. Expressing concern, the he said that literacy rate among women in the district is very poor and even the medical sector is also in a sorry state.
He further said that the women literacy rate among Schedule Tribes is very low. Kurnool district is at the bottom level in the country in medical sector. Women are suffering from anaemia and other health problems. The government has introduced "Poshan Pokada" at every Sunday. Even Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana and bank linkage loans to Dwacra women groups through DRDA and MEPMA are being provided, Veera Pandiyan said.
As is said that education starts from home, he appealed to all the women to be a teacher at home to educate their children. Educating a girl child will in turn help for development of society. So support educating girl children. The state government very recently has introduced "Amma Vodi" programme. He said a master plan is being prepared to create better facilities to the women employees.
The cultural programme performed by the students enthralled the participants. The Collector his wife Andal and other participants presented certificates to the students who excelled at various competitions.
