Paramma of Salur area is being carried in Doli for area hospital in Parvathipuram

Vizianagaram: Tribes in Pavathipuram Agency of Vizianagaram district are deprived of both health services and road facilities. They are forced to walk through hills and streams to reach the hospital as their villages are inaccessible to reach by vehicles. If anybody is seriously falling ill, they should be shifted to hospital only by carrying them in Doli.

On Tuesday K Paramma of Sirivara village in Salur mandal was shifted to Duggeru, a roadside village by carrying over Doli and later shifted to Parvathipuram area hospital by auto. Paramma has been suffering from fever for the past 10 days and became very weak.

Her relatives have carried her by Doli and reached Duggeru, which is 12 kms away from Sirivara, in seven hours. K Krishna, who is one of the carriers of the Doli, said, "Due to lack of road facility, no vehicle is reaching our village and even we too can't reach the hospital even in emergency.

We are appealing the government to provide road to us." Apart from this area, the people in villages are forced to consume contaminated water as they have no other source than drinking the water.

Kandivalasa, Konavalasa, Kummarikunta, villages in Komarada mandal and Kitchada, Vannam in Kurupam mandal are remote areas of district and they don't have pure drinking water facility too. So, the people are being affected with seasonal diseases like malaria, dengue and other viral fevers.

They are consulting local private medical practitioners for first aid and if the situation won't come under control, they are moving to nearest towns like Parvathipuram Bobbili and Vizianagaram for better treatment.
