Land for house sites to be readied: Collector

Visakhapatnam: District Collector V Vinay Chand has directed the revenue officials to identify land required for house sites and houses to be sanctioned to the eligible under various schemes.

The Collector was holding a review meeting here on Tuesday. According to Vinay Chand, the state government is planning to sanction house sites to 25 lakh families in the state by Ugadi.

By that time, the required land in the district should be kept ready, he said and added that land for the purpose should be in the possession of the authorities concerned by January.

He advised the officials to acquire land through pooling system as the availability of land is limited. With regard to the houses already sanctioned, he said 37,489 houses were sanctioned in the district, while the number of persons applied was 56,896. As many as 18,755 houses were under construction, the Collector said.

The review meeting at the Collectorate was attended by GVMC Commissioner G. Srijana, Joint Collector L. Shiva Shankar, among others.
