Lepakshi to be developed as global tourist destination

Anantapur: Department of Tourism Managing Director Praveen Kumar has stated that his department will do the needful to popularise Lepakshi as a world tourist destination. He said that the district has vast potential for tourism development.

Participating in the 2- day Lepakshi Vaibhavam -2020 as the chief guest here on Saturday, Praveen Kumar said that the Gooty and Penukonda forts are monuments of a great civilization and symbols of rich cultural heritage. Already Puttaparthi had emerged as an international tourist destination because of the Bhagavan Sai Baba.

District Collector Gandham Chandrudu spoke on the vast tourism potential of the district and the region. He said that the Lepakshi festival is an attempt to showcase a rich culture of Rayalaseema.

The festival celebration was marked by performances by children and artists of the district. The celebration will conclude with the rich display of cultural programmes on Sunday.
