Lockdown in Ongole: To curb the rise in coronavirus cases, Prakasam district collector Dr Pola Bhaskara re-imposed lockdown in Ongole and Chirala Towns again.

In the review meeting held with the officials on Friday, the collector said that 34 new cases were registered in Ongole for the last few days and they declared 14 areas in the town as containment zones.

He said that following the government instructions about the red zone and buffer zone, they were announcing the town as red zone immediately to implement Covid GO No 50 regulations from Saturday for 14 days.

He said only one person from every household will be allowed to come outside from 07.00 am to 10.00 am to bring essential commodities and the movement of public in other hours is strictly prohibited. He ordered the officials to implement government instructions strictly and contain the coronavirus effectively.

Chirala Municipal commissioner Ramachandra Reddy ordered that the town will be completely closed down from 09.00 am on June 21, Sunday.

He informed the public that the shops including the emergency services like medical shops and milk booths will also shut down on Sunday morning. He said that the shops of essential commodities will be opened from 06.00 am to 09.00 am on Tuesday following the containment plan. He asked the public to purchase the necessary items including milk also for Monday on Sunday itself.
