Loyola girl to represent state in Anveshika
Vijayawada: T Meghana from Andhra Loyola College stood first in the state-level competitions on 'Experimental Skills Test in Physics' held at R K Degree College, Vizianagaram on Monday. She will represent Andhra Pradesh in the national-level competitions to be held at IIT Kanpur on September 14, according to Dr G Sahaya Baskaran, Head of the Department of Physics here on Tuesday.
He said that the competition on experimental skill test named 'Anveshika' is being organised by Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT), under the leadership of Prof HC Varma of IIT Kanpur. G Ganesh from Narayana Educational Institutions was also selected for nationals from the schools category.
He said that the students from various regions of AP were to perform three innovative experiments in two and half hours of time and the assessment by the professors of IAPT was based on the experimental skills exhibited, observation, analysis of the results and proper interpretation.
Mentioning of exact units, taking the readings without error, handling of instruments etc are the parameters for assessment. Rev Fr Victor Emmanuel, college principal, and faculty members conveyed their greetings to Meghana on her achievement.
