Major accident averted as derailed goods oil tanker caught fire

Ongole: A goods train, with diesel tankers en route to Chennai from Vijayawada was derailed on the midnight of Thursday, at Turpu Naidu Palem between Surareddy Palem and Tangutur railway stations in Prakasam district.
Due to the accident, five tankers fell into the Musi river from rail over bridge, just beside the habitation, Bapuji Colony, and four of them caught fire immediately.
The feared locals informed the fire department staff, who reached the place in no time and tried to extinguish the fire, while the railway staff also join them. The railway officials started the track clearing work in the morning and are expected to complete by afternoon.
