Media should play a key role in safeguarding human rights: VC P V G D Prasad Reddy

Visakhapatnam: Andhra University Vice-Chancellor P V G D Prasad Reddy said on Tuesday that media should play a key role in defending human rights.

Attending as chief guest at a function held to launch a book 'Human Rights and Media' written by P Bobby Vardhan, Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, AU, and Mounica Vurity, a research scholar, he said the media should look into issues pertaining to the violation of human rights at a deeper level.

Further, the V-C stated that the social media plays a crucial role in highlighting burning issues of violations of human rights. Organised by Writers Academy at Visakhapatnam Public Library on Tuesday, the book launch programme saw a good participation. Chairman of the academy V V Ramanamurthy and Prof Bobby Vardhan and D V R Murthy among others spoke.
