Tirupati: Under JCI India Niine "Prayas" project, JCI Tirupati organised menstrual awareness programme for girl students of Zilla Parishad High School at Karakambadi village near here on Saturday.

Speaking after inauguration of the programme, JCI Asia Pacific Development Council's Development Officer N B Harshavardhan Reddy wanted the young girls to scrupulously follow the health tips on menstrual hygiene for good health and well-being.

Lack of proper awareness, clean toilets, clean water, and using traditional methods are major causes of women's ill-health in most of the cases, he said, adding that to make Indian women healthy, JCI India has taken up this activity for the year 2019 in association with `Niine' across the country to create awareness on menstruation among the school girls.

JCI Tirupati Secretary and Psychologist P Neeraja sought the girls to shed the taboos behind this problem. She also explained how to come out of depression and other problems at the time of menstruation. She has given many tips and suggestions to maintain good health.

The session ended with distribution of 'sanitary napkins' kits to 150 high school girls. School headmaster Anand and others were present.
