Minister vows permanent solution to flood woes of island residents

Amalapuram: Social welfare minister Pinepe Viswaroop said that the government was extending all necessary help to the flood-effected people including supplying food and other essential commodities to the relief camps in the district.

After visiting flooded areas Bodasakurru, Pallipalem and P Gannavaram along with MLA K Chittibabu in Konaseema here on Tuesday, Viswaroop said a permanent solution would be found to address the inundation of island areas where hundreds of people are facing problems during flood season every year.

" As part of it, steps will be taken to sanction house site pattas to them in upland areas. Further, an action plan will be chalked out to protect Konaseema from submergence in flood water," he said.

The minister said the government had supplied 25 kg rice, one kg red gram, sugar, potatoes, onions, Oil each to the flood victims. Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has directed the collector and other officials to take care of the people who are suffering due to flood and provide everything they need, he added.

The minister directed the local officials to visit entire area without fail and also arrange medical camps to prevent spread of seasonal diseases. Amalapuram revenue divisional officer B Venkata Ramana, deputy superintendent of police Sk Masum Basha and others accompanied the minister.
