MLA pays tributes to forest martyrs in Kakinada

Kakinada: MLA Dwarampudi Chandrasekhara Reddy paid rich tributes to the brave forest officers who lost their lives protecting forests here on Sunday, to mark Forest Martyrs' Day.

Participating as the chief guest at Forest Martyrs' Day meeting held at Forest Department Office here, Reddy said that Indian Forest Service officer P Srinivas , who rendered great services was killed by sandalwood smuggler Veerappan in Karnataka .

The role of the forest personnel in conservation of forests and the wild life was pivotal. The forest officer job needed courage as the job involves confrontation with the smugglers, poachers and anti-social elements. Forest Officers K Dhanraj, Srinivasarao and others participated in the event.
