MLA stresses on effective laws for welfare of elderly persons in Tirupati
Tirupati: MLA Bhuamana Karunakar Reddy stressed on effective laws for the welfare of elderly persons in the society.
Speaking at a meeting held on the occasion of `International Day of Older Persons' organised by RASS here on Sunday, Reddy said that the disappearance of joint families giving way to nuclear families and elderly people are suffering. Effective laws coupled with sensitising people on the imminent need of supporting the aged is the only answer
to the problem he said lauding RASS for taking up various welfare programmes for elderly persons.Andhra Bank deputy general manager Muralikrishna said the bank provided Rs 90 lakh loan to the RASS sponsored SHG for elderly persons for taking up self employment ventures.
RASS general secretary G Muniratnam said that with the support of Helpage India, RASS is implementing various welfare programmes.
