More than 1 lakh Covid tests conducted in Kurnool district

Kurnool: District Collector G Veera Pandiyan stated that more than 1 lakh Covid tests were conducted in the district as on Sunday. With a daily target of over 3,000 samples collection, the medical staff have conducted 1,02,174 tests, he said and congratulated the medical team.

It is a remarkable achievement during the pandemic situations, he said and added that this is achieved due to effective team work of all departments in mobilising the people in the villages and towns, in collecting samples, processing them at the labs and , announcing the results.

"Sudden surge of positive cases and simultaneous ramping up of testing capacity by installing more RTPCR and Truenat machines at labs have not frightened any of our employee", stated the District Collector.

"We hope to cross another one lakh testing in shortest possible time with the increased testing capacity and contain the spread by the key aspect of TTT model, Testing," he added.

He called up on the people to come forward to get testing voluntarily to confirm their health condition to protect themselves.

He however said that fight is still continuing against the corona virus and frontline worriers are working hard to drive containment.

Meanwhile, the district reported 97 more corona virus positive cases and five deaths on Sunday, taking total positive cases to 2,451 and deaths to 81. At present 1,153 patients were under treatment at covid hospitals in the district while 1,217 were discharged after they were completely recovered, Veera Pandiyan added.
