Motivate all to donate blood voluntarily: ITDA PO
Parvathipuram (Vizianagaram): In view of blood shortage in tribal areas during summer, the ITDA Parvathipuram under the aegis of Area Hospital Parvathipuram organised a blood donation camp on Monday. Inaugurating the camp, Collector Dr M Harijawahrlal urged the officials, members in city club and NGOs to voluntarily donate blood.
Youths from the training centres of ITDA and teacher unions volunteered for the camp. Two IAS officers Dr G Lakshmisha, PO ITDA Parvathipuram and T Chetan, Sub-collector Parvathipuram also donated blood to motivate the others to donate blood generously. Area Hospital Parvathipuram is supporting the four-community health centres (CHC) in tribal area of Vizianagaram.
Due to increase in intake of patients, the required blood quantity is likely to be increased and the patients may suffer if referred to district hospital for want of blood. Hence, with the administrative support of PO ITDA, Sub-collector and ASP Parvathipuram, the camp successfully collected 130 units of blood, said Area Hospital Superintendent Dr Nagabhushan Rao.
"One has to donate blood at least once in six months for good health and fitness. In no way it will affect the health instead it will positively improve the health of individual. It also helps to save the life of critical patients," said Dr G Lakshmisha, PO ITDA, Parvathipuram.
