MP Margani Bharat Ram wants ONGC admin office at Rajamahendravaram
Rajamahendravaram: Member of Parliament Margani Bharat Ram met Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan at his chamber in New Delhi and also met Civil Aviation secretary Pradeep Kumar Karola and submitted memorandums to them on various issues on Thursday.
The MP requested the minister to arrange an administrative office along with retaining operations wing of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation in Rajamahendraaram. Offshore and onshore oil exploration activities are under progress on a massive scale in East, West and Krishna districts.
As the administrative office was located in Chennai and Mumbai, there was a lot of delay in sanctioning funds under the Corprorate Social Responsibility scheme and it may be noted that in future, the oil exploration operations will be increased.
ONGC basin is the largest basin in the world having 26,000 square km onshore and 1,45,000 square km offshore area. At present ONGC is having 14 rigs and facing many problems to supervise their operations from Mumbai and Chennai. He also requested the minister to regularise the services of temporary employees working on the rigs.
Later, he also met Civil Avitation Ministry Secretary Pradeep Kumar Karola and submitted a memorandum with a request to upgrade the Madhurapudi airport which is the need of the hour. Day by day air traffic is increasing from the airport and also there are abundant opportunities for cargo transportation.
He also asked the secretary to upgrade the present terminal building, operations of wide body crafts, clearance for cargo services etc. Air connectivity from Rajamahendravaram to Shirdi, New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkatta and different destinations also needed.
The MP also asked the secretary to study to introduce the operations of A32 and B737 series aircraft. The airport is located between Amaravathi and Visakhapatnam and many people from that are also opting the airport to save time, he averred.
