N Chandrababu Naidu alleges attempt on the life of TDP leaders
Amaravati: Strongly condemning alleged violent attacks on TDP leaders and activists by ruling YSRCP leaders across the state in the wake of local body elections, party national president N Chandrababu Naidu said the acts of anarchy and violence by YSRCP reached peak in the state.
Addressing media at party headquarters at Atmakur in Mangalagiri mandal on Wednesday, Naidu alleged that YSRCP leaders attacked former MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, MLC Buddha Venkanna and a High Court advocate Para Kishore's vehicles at Macherla with an intention to assassinate them. The trio was visiting Macherla to find facts behind Tuesday's incident wherein the TDP leaders were prevented from filing nominations at Bodilaveedu.
"The YSRCP goons chased the TDP leaders' vehicles on the road from Macherla, when they were returning in panic to escape attacks. The assailants hit the vehicles with iron rods, hurt the leaders. The advocate suffered severe bleeding wounds and went to Nalgonda in Telangana state via Nagarjunasagar from Macherla due to fear," he said.
Accusing Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy of resorting to undemocratic rule, he said that he had not seen such a bad governance in his entire political career. The YSRCP leaders were creating many hurdles at every village and ward in the state to prevent TDP leaders from filing nominations in the local body elections, he alleged.
Showing the videos of YSRCP leaders chasing TDP leaders' vehicles in Macherla, the TDP chief said that they behaved like hooligans. He criticised both police and State Election Commission (SEC) for completely failing to protect the TDP leaders and candidates in various parts of the state. He said both police and SEC were acting on behalf of the Chief Minister to save the YSRCP leaders.
Elections in the state were being conducted in a partial manner, he alleged.
Naidu reiterated his allegation that officials were not issuing required certificates like caste, date of birth and others to the TDP candidates for filing nominations.
He released many videos and photos to the media stating that YSRCP leaders in many villages in districts were not allowing TDP candidates to file nominations.
