NABARD urges NGOs, JLGs to utilise bank loans in Ongole

Ongole: The NGOs meet on SHG/JLG Bank Linkage Program by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development along with a Technology Transfer Training Program by Rural Development and Self Employment Training Institute was held in the conference hall of Prakasam District Cooperative Central Bank in Ongole on Friday.

The NABARD DDM V Venkata Ramana explained that the farmers, including the tenant farmers, can form joint liability groups with 4 to 10 members and receive loans from any bank. He said that any group formed by Non-Government Organizations also eligible for bank loans and they need not require a bank account like the SHGs.

He said that the SHGs and JLGs can take non-collateral loans up to Rs 1.60 lakhs as per the reserve bank policies and they can utilize the same for agriculture or self-employment purposes. He said that the groups can be promoted by any NGOs, KVK, PACS or bank branch.

As part of the technology transfer program, the ATMA PD KV Subbarao explained about the millets and their uses, water management while the JD Agriculture Srirama Murthy explained about the mechanization in the farming. The RUDSETI director GS Murthy thanked the PDCC Bank CEO Sivakoteswara Rao, APGB RM Mastanaiah, Syndicate Bank RM Suresh Kumar, DPM Subbarao and others for sharing their opinions.
