Nelapadu (Amaravati): High Court questions felling of trees in the capital region
Nelapadu (Amaravati): The three-judge bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court comprising Chief Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheswari, Justice Akula Venkata Sesha Sai and Justice M Satyanarayana Murthy questioned the Advocate General as to why the trees in the capital region are being cut down which is a crime.
The bench also questioned the presence of the police at that time.
The bench was dealing with the petition on the issuance of the GO allotting house sites to the poor in the capital region from the land belonging to CRDA.
The bench said that the issue of felling trees is taken suo motu since the court has all the photographs and the videos in this regard. The petition was filed by Avala Nanda Kishore belonging to Krishnayapalem village in Amaravati and he was represented by advocate K Indraneel.
Advocate Pranati represented another petition filed by the farmers of Thullur village on the same issue. The bench announced that all the petitions would be clubbed and heard on March 12. Meanwhile, at least 450 beneficiaries filed implead petitions in the same case stating that some people were obstructing the government proposal to give house sites to them.
The beneficiaries belonging to Tadepalli and Mangalagiri mandals filed the petition and appealed to the court to hear their version also. The bench asked them as to how they were connected to the petition since the house sites were not allocated so far to them. However, the bench would hear the arguments of the petitioners also on March 12, the bench announced.
