Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president S Sailajanath criticises YSRCP for failing to fulfil its promise of securing Special Category Status to AP

Nellore: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president S Sailajanath on Saturday demanded that the State government pass a resolution in the Assembly against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) andNational Register of Citizens (NRC).

Addressing the media at Indira Bhavan here, Sailajanath urged the YSRCP to raise in Parliament the issue of implementation of Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. The Congress party would support the demand for more funds for the State.

Though the State had recorded more than normal rainfall,majority of water bodies were not filled. The crops were withering in Anantapur district due to negligent attitude of the State government, he said.

Sailajanath said the Congress party had introduced excellent welfare programmes in the country. The YSR Congress party, which promised to secure Special Category Status for the State, had failed to do so. The Congress party would field candidates in all constituencies in local body elections, he said.

Tirupati former MP Chinta Mohan alleged the BJP-led union government had been destroying the institutions.

DCC president Chevuri Deva Kumar Reddy and others were present.
