Nellore: Collector MV Seshagiri Babu directed officials to arrange shelters for moving migrant workers

Nellore: District Collector MV Seshagiri Babu directed the officials to arrange temporary shelters close to the national highways and other important roads for providing amenities to the moving migrant workers.

He held a review meeting with officials on Sunday and instructed them to collect data of migrant population and prepare a report for arranging transport facility to them.

Collector said there should be separate accommodation for walking population, moving by buses and bicycles. All migrants should be provided similar food and there should not be any variation. All centres should have medical facilities supervised by the doctors and tests should be conducted to them.

He asked the officials to arrange shelters for every 30 km and they should be accommodated in available structures. In case there are no such facilities, at least shamianas should be used for giving shelter to them. There should be a facility for food, water, sanitisers, and masks and physical distancing has to be maintained, he said.

He asked the officials to depute in-charges for various centres for monitoring and collecting data for making further travel arrangements.

Seshagiri Babu asked the officials to take special care of people coming via Chennai and conduct medical tests on them. He said all staff members should wear PPE kits, masks, and face masks for their protection.

Joint Collector Dr. V Vinod Kumar, Sub Collectors R Gopala Krishna, Ch Sridhar, Additional Joint Collector K Kamala Kumari, DRO G Mallikarjuna, Nellore RDO Hussain Saheb and DCHS DR L Chennaiah were present.
