Nellore: Collector seeks support from private hospitals to check spread of coronavirus

Nellore: District Collector MV Seshagiri Babu sought cooperation from private doctors to prevent the spread of dreaded coronavirus. At a meeting held here on Saturday, the Collector addressed the representatives of management of private hospitals and private doctors. He said the role of the medical professionals is crucial in combating this kind of epidemics.

He said that all government and private medical professionals have to strive to reduce the number of infections. He asked the managements of private hospitals to open isolation wards. If they do not cooperate, the provisions of the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897 will be enforced against such management, he warned.

He appealed to all hospitals to participate in the mock drill being conducted on Sunday.

Joint Collector Dr V Vinod Kumar said they are preparing the data of all pulmonologists, general physicians, and specialists for utilising their services if needed. He also said that they had also formed Expert Study Coordination Committee with Dr Srinivas, Deputy Superintendent of the Government General Hospital (9849253275). He suggested to depute a nodal officer for each private hospital in the city and district for monitoring the activities.
