Nellore: Fire accident at chemical factory causes panic among people
Nellore: A chemical factory close to Bodigadithota area in the city caught fire in the evening on Sunday which created panic among the local people. Fire officials rushed to the spot and tried to put off the flames.
Sri Balaji Chemicals is located close to Penna River which produces bleaching powder, lime powder, liquid handwash, detergent powder and other chemicals.
It started operations in 2013. A chemical tanker located in the factory caught fire in the evening hours emanating smoke and flames.
District Fire Officer and personnel rushed to the spot and started operations. Meanwhile, an electric pole close to Venkateswara Puram area also caught fire and the fire officials rushed to the spot to douse the flames.
Irrigation Minister Anil Kumar rushed to the Chemical Factory area and asked the officials to stop power for Bodigadithota area for preventing further losses.
He personally monitored the fire operations alerting the departments to respond quickly keeping in view of the possible gas leak. But the mishap created panic among the local people.
Minister for Industries and IT M Goutham Reddy also inquired on the two fire accidents in the city and asked the district administration to be attentive on such incidents.
No human loss or any injuries were reported as no workmen were there at the factory site.
