Nellore: High Court of Andhra Pradesh says no to animal sacrifice during Venkatagiri Jathara

Nellore: The High Court of Andhra Pradesh imposed a ban on the slaughter of animals during popular Venkatagiri Jathara to be held on Thursday. A writ petition No. 13892/2019 has been filed by Dr Shashikala, a freelance animal protection activist and I Uma Devi from Nellore-based Foundation for the Animals requesting to stop animal sacrifice during the name of Jathara.

Court No. 11 directed the Superintendent of Police Aishwarya Rastogi on Wednesday to take measures to protect animals during the festival. Dr Shashikala said that animals should not be sacrificed during the Jathara and the Police have to take responsibility for protecting them as per directions of the Court.
