Nellore: Highway dacoity gang held

Nellore: The Nawabpet police arrested five accused late on Friday who resorted to highway dacoity and recovered a pistol, one pulsar motorcycle and a pair of police uniforms from the accused.

According to police, Bengali Nirmal Roy from the West Bengal, Sk Babji Hussain from Assam, P Siva Prasad Reddy from Kadapa, Y Veerappa and M Srikanth from Nellore district who were old offenders formed a gang for highway dacoities.

They were stopping the vehicles at Prasanthi Nagar junction on the highway on Friday midnight with police uniforms trying to loot the vehicle owners and, on a tip-off, Nawabpet police rushed to the spot and arrested them.

Circle Inspector K Vema Reddy addressed the media and Sub Inspectors B Ramesh Babu, B Siva Prakash and other staff members were present.
