Officials asked to conduct medical tests thoroughly

Nellore: The district administration is planning to quarantine low-risk Covid-19 patients at their residences where they are having standard facilities. Only high-risk patients, whose oxygen level in the blood dips below 90 per cent would be shifted to the nearby quarantine centres for treatment.

But the officials insist on standard facilities like separate bedrooms with an attached bathroom for an isolated environment where they can recover in a span of 14 days.

District officials are considering only high-risk patients would be shifted to the quarantine centres for treatment based on their oxygen level indicated in the meter and confine low-risk patients to households after handing over the machines for regular monitoring.

The patients would be asked to inform medical teams that visit the household for normal checkup and shift them to the quarantine centre in case of emergency.

The nodal officers will collect phone numbers for daily monitoring and further action. Joint Collector Dr Prabhakar Reddy has asked the officials to conduct medical examinations thoroughly, who returned from Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Gujarat, Vijayawada and other high-risk places for preventing further infection in the district. Secondary suspects should be asked to stay at home and their health status to be checked from time to time, he said.

The Joint Collector also asked the mandal level officials to keep a tab on the number of Covid-19 cases in rural areas for preparing action plan for controlling the situation. He said they have to respond instantly taking appropriate measures either to confine them to the home-based quarantine or to shift them to the quarantine centres.

He said mandal level officials have to review with the teams of ANMs, Asha workers and Village Volunteers on the day-to-day situation and see that all teams should work vigorously.
