Nellore: Police intensify vigil at Andhra Pradesh-Tamil Nadu borders
Nellore: Owing to huge spike in covid-19 cases in Sullurpet area which are linked to Koyambedu market in Chennai, local police tightened measures at the border check-post in Tada mandal and also in Sullurpet. They freshly stopped migrant labourers trying to cross the borders in huge number on Saturday and sent them back to Tamil Nadu by arranging a special vehicle.
Police have been allowing only vehicles carrying essentials from other states from via the borders and also people with proper documents issued by the authorities. They were allowing migrant labourers for some time and used to shift them to the local relief camps in Naidupeta and Sullurpet areas. But now, they are not allowing migrant labourers.
A group of 150 labourers reached the Holycross Circle in Sullurpet by walk, on Saturday. They were obstructed by the police who shifted the workers to Chennai in a special vehicle.
Sullurpeta Circle Inspector K Venkateswara Reddy informed that they have been preventing the labourers entering the borders either by walk or on bicycles.
