Nellore: TDP condemns attack on CBN Army member
Nellore: The TDP leaders in the district on Monday condemned the attack on the party social media activist V Hazarath Kumar Setty on Sunday and alleged that the police had booked only bailable cases against the accused.
Visiting the Apollo hospital here on Monday to enquire about health condition of victim, TDP senior leader Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy said the ruling party activists attacked on V Hazarath Kumar Setty with beer bottles and the police should consider it as a murder attempt.
Hazarath Kumar is running a mobile shop at Lassi Centre and has been an active member of the CBN Army of the TDP. Some unidentified persons contacted him on Sunday for a mobile repair issue and attacked him mercilessly with beer bottles and other weapons on his hands and head without any reason, the leaders said.
Somireddy criticised that when ruling party activists attack people, police personnel are booking bailable cases. If the TDP leaders distribute essentials to poor with the TDP emblems they are booking non-bailable cases against the leaders which indicates the unusual attitude of police.
TDP leaders said even though they had staged dharnas on the public issues during Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's regime, no case was booked against them.
"Criminal culture has increased during the YSRCP's regime. It seems there is no right to the Opposition parties to express their resentment even in democracy. Association leaders have to respond to the act of police personnel. Suppressing the social media activists is inhuman and Jagan Mohan Reddy's government would have to face serious consequences," said Chandramohan Reddy.
