Nellore: Teams check two divisions to find out any suspected cases
Nellore: Now, the officials are filtering the area where the corona-affected person resides and the adjoining areas in search of any people who returned from highly affected nations recently by deploying huge forces of medical and health staff members, Anganwadi teachers and Asha workers, collecting data systematically.
Parents of the victim are also under scanner for any symptoms of the virus and they were shifted to the isolation ward in the GGH.
It may be recalled that a youngster visited Italy a couple of years ago and completed his MS degree there and returned to the city recently.
His residence is also close to the Collector's office. He landed in Indira Gandhi International Airport and then reached Chennai by a domestic airplane. He, then, engaged a cab service up to Nellore, sources said. Since he returned from Italy, which is a high-risk country after China, the Medical and Health officials kept a vigil on him for any symptoms of the deadly virus.
He has been quarantined at home for three days and as he complained of dry cough, he was shifted to the isolation ward located in the GGH for further investigations. The interim report on Tuesday confirmed positive and the SVIMS officials alerted the government and the district administration for further preventive measures. The District Collector also conducted a review late on Tuesday directing the officials to follow up the case.
As part of the measures, the Joint Collector Dr V Vinod Kumar, Municipal Commissioner PVVS Murthy, District Medical and Health Officer Dr G Rajyalakshmi, and other senior officials organised a meet with staff of various departments/wings and engaged them to collect data of people who recently returned from foreign visits, people suffering from any symptoms of the virus and others on a war-footing on Wednesday.
Each team has been allocated 50 houses and the teams have collected the data of 42 and 47 divisions in the city for any suspect cases. Still, neither the State government nor the district administration has declared the affected person as a positive case.
