New CS Nilam Sawhney takes charge in Amaravati
Amaravati: Senior IAS officer of 1984 batch, Nilam Sawhney took charge as Chief Secretary on Thursday at Secretariat amidst grand welcome from the government officials. She became the first woman to hold the highest position in the state.
She said that her focus would be on improving education, health and agriculture sectors improvement as wished by the Chief Minister. The CS said that she would work for overall development of the state with the cooperation and guidance of the Chief Minister. She said taking charge as Chief Secretary was giving pleasure since she started her career as Civil Servant in Andhra Pradesh.
She said that she first worked as Assistant Collector at Machilipatnam in Krishna district. She informed that she learned many things in the state, and it was always happy to work in the state.
Apart from Neerabh Kumar, the senior IAS officials, including Special Chief Secretaries Satish Chandra, Poonam Malakondaiah, Addional CS PV Ramesh, Women Commission Chairperson Vasireddy Padma, Principal Secretaries RP Sisodia, SS Rawat, Vijayanand, Endowments Commissioner Padma, Protocol Additional secretary JC Kishore Kumar and others congratulated her.
