Nilam Sawhney got repatriation to AP, likely to be appointed as Chief Secretary

Amaravati: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), union government has approved repatriation of Nilam Sawhney, senior lAS officer, working as Secretary, Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment to her parent cadre on the request of AP Government. She likely to be appointed as the new Chief Secretary in the state.

Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Department of Personnel and Training, govt of India has issued the orders, relieving her from central services, on Monday.

The 1984 cadre IAS officer first served as Assistant Collector at Machilipatnam in Krishna district during 1985-86. Then served as Sub Collector at Tekkali between 1986-88. Between 1988-90, she rendered services as Joint Collector in Nalgoda district, presently in Telangana state.

In the year 1990, she worked as Deputy Secretary at HMA and UD department. After serving in various positions between 1990 to 1995, she was appointed as Joint Secretary in Energy department in the year 1995 and continued till 1996 on the same post.

Between 1996 to 1999, the IAS officer served as district collector in Nalgoda district. During the period from 1999-2004, she served as Commissioner at Directorate of Family Welfare.

She worked as Secretary, Transport, Roads and Buildings for one year between 2004-05. Again she was appointed as Commissioner, sports, VC and MD for SAAP for short period in 2005, during the regime of then CM YS Rajasekhar Reddy.

The IAS officer served as Joint Secretary, Ministry of RD, between 2005-10. She was put in complusory wait for more than one month in the year 2010. After that, she went on long leave for about seven months. Again she was appointed as VC and MD for APIDC corporation in 2011 to 2012.

She served as Principal Secretary in the department of WCD and SC, from 2012 to 2015. She was appointed as Secretary, Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment in the month of May, 2018, continued till date.
