Nilam Sawhney took charge as Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh

Senior IAS Neelam Sawhney has been appointed as the Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh Government. She took charge from the Incharge CS Neerab Kumar at the Secretariat on Thursday morning. After the partition, Neelam Sawhney who was secretary of central social justice and empowerment till now was appointed as the first female chief secretary of AP.

The Jagan Government has issued the appointment to Nilam Sawhney as the Chief Secretary of the Andhra Pradesh Government on Wednesday. AP government recently transferred LV Subramaniam, who was appointed as CS during the elections. Nilam Sawhney has now been appointed as the new full-fledged CS The orders have been issued in the name of CMO Special Secretary Praveen Prakash.

Sawhney of the IAS batch of 1984 was an Assistant Collector in for Machilipatnam in combine state of Andhra Pradesh. She worked as Sub Collector of Tekkali and Joint Collector of Nalgonda District. Also, she served as the Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Administration Department and the Ministry of Women and Child Welfare.

Sawhney has worked in Nizamabad and Khammam districts and served as District Collector of Nalgonda and Commissioner of Family Welfare. After working as joint secretary of the Union Rural Development Department. She later served as the General Secretary of the Department of Women and Child Welfare. Recently she served as Secretary of Social Justice and Empowerment.
