No curbs for Kodela's funeral: Cops
Guntur : Though prohibitory orders have been imposed Guntur and Narsaraopet revenue division, there will be no restrictions on the people participating in the procession as part of final rites of Assembly former speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao in Narsaraopet on Wednesday.
The police deployed additional forces to maintain law and imposed Section 144 to prevent any violence. Officials said police will swing into action only if anti-social elements try to create law and order problem during the funeral.
Thousands of TDP leaders, including MPs, MLAs, former ministers, former MLAs, party leaders from AP and Telangana, Kodela followers in Palnadu region are expected to participate in the funeral procession.
The police officials feel that if any untoward incident takes place, it would be difficult to control anti-social elements. Sources in the department said as it is the responsibility of the government to provide security to common people, additional forces were deployed in Narasaraopet.
The police department set up barricades at the TDP state office in Guntur and beefed up security there. Similarly, pickets were set up at the important places in the district. Meanwhile Guntur urban SP PHD Rama Krisha and Rural SP R Jayalakshmi reviewed security arrangements on Tuesday.
Speaking to The Hans India, Guntur urban SP P H D Rama Krishna said there would be no restrictions and inconvenience to the people going to Narasaraopet from Guntur to participate in the funeral procession. "We have beefed up security at TDP state party office in Guntur. There is no inconvenience to anybody. We have imposed Section 144, to check untoward incidents," he added.
Narasraopet DSP M Veera Reddy also said imposed of Section 144 was just a precautionary measure which would have no effect on the public participation in the funeral. "We will maintain law and order and provide security to all those participate in the procession to held on the occasion of Kodela Siva Prada Rao's funeral," he said.
