No fund crunch for drinking water supply, says Collector
Chittoor: Effective measures should be initiated to meet the prevailing drinking water scarcity problem with a befitting manner, said District Collector P S Pradyumna.
Priority should be given for ensuring fodder for the cattle in the summer and take needful steps for creating employment generation under NREGS scheme, he stated.
Petitioners from different parts of the district have flooded to the Collectorate to meet the District Collector for submitting their petitions with various demands on Monday.
After a gap of two months , District Collector has attended the grievance cell along with Joint Collector P S Girisha, District Revenue Officer Gangadhar Goud and other district officers.
In spite of scorching sun, the petitioners have waited hours together in the long queues to submit their applications at the Collectorate. Security personnel faced a tough time in controlling the huge crowds.
As District Election Officer , P S Pradyumna is very busy during the last two months. After attending the grievance cell, District Collector has reviewed the drought prevailing conditions in the district with the concerned officers.
Pradyumna has made it clear that there was no funds crunch for drinking water supply schemes in the district.
Transportation of water through hired tankers should be taken up with immediate effect covering the problematic villages, he said. Despite serious instructions, several of the departmental heads are still lagging behind to attend the pending Meekosam petitions,'' he added.
He stressed that all the district officers should attend the 'Meekosam' programme on each Monday without fail for resolving the issues of the petitioners on the spot . Joint Collector P S Girisha , DRO Gangadhar Goud, and others were present.
