No online classes Andhra Pradesh Government warns private schools

Vijayawada: The Education department has asked private school managements not to conduct online classes to the students till the academic year schedule for 2020-21 is announced.

The decision was taken in view of the requests made by parents as the private school managements are asking the parents to buy smart phones, laptops and tabs for the convenience of students and to conduct online classes. Due to Covid-19 pandemic, lakhs of families are struggling in the state as income is falling rapidly. Trading activity crippled and employees working in the private sector have lost jobs or are getting pay cuts.

When lakhs of families are struggling for survival, the private school managements are mercilessly putting pressure on parents to pay fee, buy books, uniforms, etc. The issue of online classes and the pressure exerted by the school managements to pay fee has become an important topic among the middle class and below middle class families and many parents appealed to the government to issue orders banning online classes.

As a result, now the District Education Officers are sending messages to the private school managements to stop conducting online classes. It is learnt that the Education department has warned such schools that their recognition would be cancelled if they violate the rules or if they terminate the teachers.
