Non-locals dominate AUCET results

Visakhapatnam: Be it the dominance of non-local candidates or the popularity of Andhra University, the top scores in the recently-released AUCET and AUEET results are achieved by 10 non-Visakhapatnam candidates for 15 courses out of 19,923 who appeared for the same number of tests. Of the 10 candidates who topped the scores, three are from other States such as Kerala, West Bengal and Bihar.

Abdul Latheef T P, a candidate from Malappuram, Kerala, not only scored high in his entrance test (AUCET) for Geology but his 91 marks are also highest among all the science courses put together. Sharing his delight, Latheef said, "I heard about the university from my seniors who studied here.

Though I wrote well, I did not expect to top the charts. I think anyone who is good with the basics of Geology can crack the exam." The success of wards brought smiles on the faces of their parents who are now on cloud nine. T J S L Savitri of Tanuku, West Godavari, scored 81 marks in AUEET for six-year Dual Degree (B Tech + M Tech) programme.

Speaking about his daughter's outstanding performance, T N V K Somayajulu said, "My daughter achieved 10 GPA both in Class X and Intermediate. I am thrilled to see her name again as a topper in AUEET. I am confident that she continues to make us proud in future as well."

Few parents are welcoming the decision of their wards who like opting a stream of their choice. P Gopala Krishna, father of P S P R Manjusha, who secured the top rank in AUCET English, said, "I am overwhelmed that my girl stood first both in AUCET and Nannayyacet. She also secured third in ANUPGCET. All the children in our families are software engineers but my daughter wants to be a teacher to inspire kids which I readily agreed."

In this technology-driven world, some students are also interested to brush up their creative skills. Raghuvir Pratap Singh, a candidate from Bihar, said, "I am always passionate about art. My acquaintances suggested me to attend for AUCET and luckily, I got the top rank in it. I believe that our hard work never goes wasted."

Rural students also proved their mettle with outcome of the entrance test. P Mani Teja from Lutukurru village, East Godavari, stood first in Life Sciences test. Elated by seeing his result, he said, "I am in a dilemma to select Botany or Zoology, but I have some time to decide. Either I prepare for government exams after this or become a Biology lecturer."
