Officials told to prepare estimates for village secretariat buildings

Eluru: Deputy Chief Minister Alla Nani has directed the Panchayat Raj engineers to prepare estimates at a cost of Rs 180 crore for construction of buildings for village secretariats and CC drains in the district.

He reviewed the developmental works with officials at his camp office here on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, he expressed concern over the plight of rural roads. He said the erstwhile TDP government had ignored rural roads and now it has become a troublesome effort to travel by the rural roads.

Even main roads were totally damaged and they need to be developed at the earliest. He asked the officials also evolve a comprehensive plan for taking up rural roads construction in entire West Godavari.

Nani asked the officials to take up construction of 1000 CC drains at a cost of Rs 100 crore. While a sum of Rs 70 crore will be sanctioned under NREGS, the remaining Rs 30 crore will be released by state government. Similarly, the officials should also prepare for construction of 123 buildings for village secretariats at a cost of Rs 80 crore.

For each building it will cost Rs 65 lakh. While Rs 72 crore will be released from NREGS funds, for release of the remaining Rs eight crore he will talk to the Panchayat Raj Minister, he said.
