CITU leaders along with other organisations stage protest in support farmers’ agitation in Delhi

Ongole: Police foiled the attempt by the leaders and workers of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions to lay siege to the district Collectorate in Ongole on Thursday, in support of the farmers who are agitating in Delhi against the new farm laws. The police arrested 14 CITU leaders.

The CITU workers, civil supplies porters, Aasha workers union leaders and others organised a protest at the collectorate on Thursday and demanded the Central government to repeal the new agriculture laws, cancel the amendments to the Electricity Bill and make a bill fixing the minimum support price for the farmers.

The leaders opined that with the strength of members in the Lok sabha, the Modi government passed four anti-labour laws, 3 agriculture laws, to help the corporate companies loot the farmers. They hailed the commitment of farmers agitating at the borders of Delhi against the unfavourable atmospheric conditions and announced support to them.

When the CITU and other organisations leaders try to force entry into the Collectorate to lay-siege, the police arrested 14 leaders, including the CITU district general secretary Ch Srinivasa Rao, secretaries G Srinivasulu, K Subbarao, T Mahesh, and others and released them later on personal bail.
